Children’s art sessions continue this Saturday

Tickets go on sale Monday, pageant attracts 51 contestants

The 46th annual Miss Mount Vernon Scholarship Pageant has attracted 51 contestants, according to Heather Bales, event coordinator for the sponsoring Franklin County Chamber of Commerce.

Second Saturday is this weekend

The Allen & Kilburn Project will provide musical entertainment and sketch artist Tyler Roberts will demonstrate his talents for the Second Saturday of July this weekend, June 12.

Mary Lou and the Crew to play at Alamo

Starlite Theatre Productions will present an “Evening under the Stars” on Saturday, July 26 at 7 p.m. There will be a $10 coverage charge, and food and drinks will be free.

Taylor to demonstrate painting at Frame Up

Ellie Taylor will provide an oil painting demonstration at the The Frame Up on Tuesday, July 8 at 2 p.m. She paints plain air, sketches outdoors, and uses pictures to remind her of a scene, paints from memory and from set ups.

Kids art Saturdays start this weekend

The Franklin County Arts Alliance will be host for a series of three free Children’s Summer Art sessions. They will be conducted from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, July 26, and August 2 and 9. See the July 24 edition of the Mount Vernon Optic-Herald for more details about these classes.

Film fest highlighted student, independent filmmaker talent

Arts alliance Luau fund-raiser a success

Alyssa Auringer and Kristin Decker place a platter of meat on the serving table at the Franklin County Arts Alliance. The Luau fund-raiser dinner and auction was a roaring success, according to Jeanne Pamplin, president of the FCAA.
