Pageant grosses $14,000 for Franklin County Chamber of Commerce

The 46th annual pageant grossed approximately $14,000 on Friday and Saturday, August 8 and 9 in the MVISD auditorium.

Miss Mount Vernon Pageant both Friday, Saturday

The 46th annual Miss Mount Vernon Scholarship Pageant has attracted 49 girls seeking claim to six division titles in two nights of competition. The titles for the younger three divisions, grades K-5, will be decided Friday, Aug. 8, and the crowns for the older three groups, grades 6-12 will be awarded Saturday, Aug. 9.

Mary Lou and the Crew to play at Alamo

Starlite Theatre Productions will present an “Evening under the Stars” on Saturday, July 26 at 7 p.m. There will be a $10 coverage charge, and food and drinks will be free.

Kids art Saturdays start this weekend

The Franklin County Arts Alliance will be host for a series of three free Children’s Summer Art sessions. They will be conducted from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, July 26, and August 2 and 9. See the July 24 edition of the Mount Vernon Optic-Herald for more details about these classes.

The 46th annual Miss Mount Vernon Scholarship Pageant has attracted 51 contestants, according to Heather Bales, event coordinator for the sponsoring Franklin County Chamber of Commerce.
