Summer Enrichment offers polka, fairytales

The Friends of the Franklin Library is sponsoring a polka event and in conjunction with Mount Vernon Music Association, a children’s concert. Both events are free as part of the Summer Enrichment series.

Bolton donates porker for fund raising dinner

Karl Falster shows off one of the Falster Farm’s  organically grown swineLinda Bolton was the winner in the Franklin County Arts Alliance’s drawing last week to win a swine. Mrs. Bolton returned the portly porker to the organization for use in a Hawaiian theme dinner set for Saturday, June 14 at the Cultural Arts Center.

One Act Play plans send off performance

Cast and crew members of the Mount Vernon High School One Act PlayCast and crew members of the Mount Vernon High School One Act Play have set a “send off performance” for Sunday, May 18 at 2 p.m. “There are still lots of people that have not seen the play, and have asked us to do another performance,” Director Terry McGonagill said.

Art show set at The Frame Up

An exhibit of recent water color and colored pencil drawings by Dr. Ollie Jensen Theisen will open with a reception at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, May 13.

Sign-up for the 46th annual Miss Mount Vernon Scholarship Pageant is now underway, according to Heather Bales, pageant coordinator for the sponsoring Franklin County Chamber of Commerce.

Music will keep the mood light, lively at wine festival

The Piney Woods Wine Trail Festival, set for Friday night and Saturday, May 16 and 17, will feature live entertainment throughout the event.

Camera workshop at CAC

The Franklin County Arts Alliance will be host for a free camera workshop on Saturday May 31. Michael Alford will be the instructor for the “Getting to know your camera” workshop.
