Miss Mount Vernon Pageant both Friday, Saturday

A total of 18 young ladies is vying for crowns in the top three divisions of the Miss Mount Vernon Pageant.The 47th annual Miss Mount Vernon Scholarship Pageant has attracted 38 girls seeking claim to six division titles in two nights of competition. New this year will be escorts for each young lady.

Kids art Saturdays start this weekend

Members of the Franklin County Arts Alliance will be hosts for a series of three free Children’s Summer Art sessions. They will be from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, Aug. 1, 8 and 15.

Miss Mount Vernon Pageant tickets on sale now

There are 20 contestants vying for titles in the younger three divisions in the Miss Mount Vernon Pageant. It has attracted 38 contestants who will be responsible for selling the tickets.

Library to show To Kill a Mockingbird

Golden to perform at Second Saturday on the square

Haley GoldenA beautiful Texas day is predicted by the weatherman for Second Saturday activities, July 11, in downtown Mount Vernon. The shops and local vendors will be set up with their handmade items and farm grown produce.

Sidewalk chalk, pastels workshop set
