TableScapes deadline is fast approaching

The deadline to register to enter the TableScapes competition sponsored by the Franklin County Arts Alliance is fast approaching. The deadline to enter is Saturday, Nov. 7. The event will be from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.  Friday and Saturday, Nov. 13 and 14, at the Cultural Arts Center. See the Nov. 5 edition of the Optic-Herald for more details on the event.

Members exhibit deadline extended

The deadline to submit pieces of art work for a members only exhibit at the Old Jail Art Museum has been extended until Friday, Nov. 6. Members of the Franklin County Arts Alliance are eligible to enter their work for the exhibition. See the Oct. 29 edition of the Optic-Herald for more information.

Arts note burning to open courtyard concert

The Franklin County Arts Alliance will celebrate the payoff of their building loan for the purchase of the Cultural Arts Center building. A “note burning” ceremony will open the organization’s Courtyard Concert at 6 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 7. For more information, see the Oct. 29 edition of the Optic-Herald.

Entertainers sought for contest

The second annual Texas Star contest seeking to identify local area talent is set to begin. Area performing artists must submit a sample of their work for screening no later than 5 p.m. Friday, Nov. 6. See the Oct. 29 edition of the Optic-Herald for more information.

Fall Courtyard Concert announced

Johnny C. Lately and Diamond Jack will perform acoustic blues music in the Courtyard of the Cultural Arts Center Nov. 7. Admission is $12 in advance or $14 at the gate the night of the event. See the Oct. 22 edition of the Optic-Herald for more information.

Classical guitar recital set

Classical guitar recital setAndrew Daniel, an internationally-acclaimed musician and Northeast Texas Community College faculty member, will perform a guitar recital  at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 7 at the Whatley Center for the Performing Arts.

Keyboard concert set November 8

Mount Vernon Music announces its third concert of the 2009-2010 concert season at 3 p.m. Sunday Nov. 8, in The Music Hall. The concert is one of the Agnes Burns Keyboard Concert series. See the Oct. 22 edition of the Optic-Herald for more information.

Harlos to be featured in keyboard concert

Harlos to be featured in keyboard concertDr. Steven Harlos, staff keyboardist for the Dallas Symphony Orchestra, will be the featured artist for this season’s Agnes Burns Keyboard Concert. DiPietro play opens at NTCC

Theatre Northeast will present the play “Over the River and Through the Woods” on the main stage of the Whatley Center for the Performing Arts at Northeast Texas Community College Thursday through Sunday, Oct. 22-25.
