Mothers honored at Frame Up

An exhibit of work honoring mothers will be on display throughout the month of May at the Frame Up Fine Arts Gallery at 204 W. Main St. in Mount Vernon.

A Flock of Sparrows launch party set

A launch party and book signing for the novel A Flock of Sparrows will be from 6 to 8 p.m. on Saturday, May 7 at the Cultural Arts Center. Helen Myers, June Foster, and Gail Reed have teamed up to write as Helen Foster Reed.

Professor Tele band to play at Blues Festival

If you are looking for a mouth watering, toe tapping good time, then the Alamo Mission Museum is the place to be. The ninth annual Chili and Blues event is this Saturday, April 9 on the museum’s grounds.

This fireplace screen was recently donated to the Franklin County Historical Association by Dr. Dorothy Brooks.This fireplace screen was recently donated to the Franklin County Historical Association by Dr. Dorothy Brooks. It was painted by her mother, Lois Roberta Penn Brooks in 1940s in Franklin County.

Winners in the ninth annual chili cook off at the Alamo Mission Museum.The weather put a damper on events at the Alamo Mission Museum on Saturday, April 9. The threat of rain quickly passed and approximately 30 people sat back in the cool breeze

Mary Lou and the Crew returns to Alamo festival

Christophor Hill and Mary Lou and the Crew will play from the stage at the Alamo Mission Museum’s annual music festival  Saturday, April 9. Mr. Hill performs as a one-man band playing “Kansas City flavored” Rhythm and Blues and a bit of Soul.
