Friendship Cemetery meeting planned

The annual meeting of the Friendship Cemetery Association will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 29, 2016 at the cemetery.
Everyone with an interest in the cemetery is encouraged to attend. Financial records will be distributed at the meeting.

Alzheimer Support Group to meet locally

The Alzheimer Support Group for the Mount Vernon area will meet at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 19, at the Franklin County Library on the square. Caregivers, families, and friends are encouraged to attend the event to share information and learn ways to deal with Alzheimers. For more information, call Gary Nelson at 903-431-5508.

Yard of the Month

The yard at 300 Keith St. in Mount Vernon is filled with a variety of plants and a bevy of flowering rose bushes. Call 903-537-4365 to nominate a yard for next month.

Donations sought for fireworks show on Lake Cypress Springs

Donations are being sought to fund the annual Independence Day weekend fire works show on Lake Cypress Springs. All contributions over the cost of the materials for the show are donated to the South Franklin Volunteer Fire Department.

Talsma in ICU, fund raisers set

Jouwert TalsmaJouwert Talsma is currently in ICU at East Texas Medical Center in Tyler, and several fund raisers have been planned to help cover medical and living expenses for his family. He has been diagnosed as having Guillain-Barre Syndrome.

Computer classes begin Tuesday at library

The Franklin County Library is sponsoring two computer classes this month. Microsoft Word will be the topic for a class on Tuesday, May 17. Excell will be the focus on Tuesday, May 24.

Blodgett Cemetery group to meet

The annual Blodgett Cemetery Association meeting will be Saturday, May 21 at 11 a.m. at the Fellowship Hall of the Blodgett Church of Christ located at CR 2850. A potluck luncheon will follow the meeting.
