Hope Ministries opens The Landing

Hope Ministries of Northeast Texas has recently open The Landing event center in Mount Pleasant. The rentable event center is open to anyone in the community and is rated for 200 people.

AARP to meet December 16

The Franklin County American Association of Retired Persons Chapter 3703 will meet at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, December 16 at the Senior Citizens Center. Max and Joy Rutledge will be the hosts.

Angel gift pick up this week

Christmas For All Angel Gifts are to be distributed this week from 4 to 6:30 p.m. Thursday, December 11 and from 8 a.m. to noon Friday, December 12.

Pictures needed for Macon Cemetery book

Members of the Macon Cemetery Association are working on a book about the cemetery. “We need help, especially pictures of ones buried at Macon, and if they were in the military, we would like a picture in uniform,” Lera Owens, one of the organizers, said.

Alzheimer Support Group to meet locally

The Alzheimer Support Group for the Mount Vernon area will meet at 2 p.m. on Thursday, December 11 at the Franklin County Library on the square.

The induction of officers for 2015 will be conducted during the December meeting  of the Franklin County Genealogical Society. The meeting will be Monday, December 15 at 6:30 p.m. in the Century Room on Kaufman St.

The Caddo Trace Beekeepers Association will meet at 7 p.m. on Monday, December 8 at the Agri-Life Building, at 1708 Industrial Rd. in Mount Pleasant.

Republican women to collect for military

The Republican Women of Northeast Texas will be collecting donations for military boxes as part of their Christmas Party on Thursday, December 4. The event will be at the Mount Pleasant Country Club at noon.
