Gala planned to fund Rotary Club scholarships

The Mount Vernon Rotary Club will raise money for motivational scholarships at a Gala at 6 p.m. Saturday, November 15 at the Rose Jennings Memorial Hall at the First United Methodist Church.

Lovier to speak at AARP

Judge Paul Lovier will be the guest speaker at The Franklin County American Association of Retired Persons Chapter 3703 meeting. The group will meet at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, October 28 at the Senior Citizens Center.

Chamber Halloween contests, events registration open

The Franklin County Chamber of Commerce is registering participants for their Merchant’s Halloween Dress-up and Window Decoration contests as well as the 2014 Trick-or-Treat Around the Square set for Friday, October 31.

The annual Redneck games and Trades Day events have been planned for Saturday, November 8 at the Alamo Mission Museum grounds.

Alamo museum Halloween Party set

The annual Halloween Party and Hayride at the Alamo Mission Museum has been set for Saturday, October 25. The gates will open at 6:30 p.m. and activities will get underway at 7 p.m.

Driving course offered by AARP

The Franklin County American Association of Retired Persons Chapter 3703 is offering a safe-driving course Thursday, October 23 from 8:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church Family Life Center.
