Genealogy fund raiser has good turnout

Both cooks have won many local awards. The fund raiser for the Franklin County Genealogical Society netted over $1400.

The yard features a variety of mature trees, shrubs and flowering plants.

Youth led prayer

About 70 people joined the event after it was moved inside the gym at the First Baptist Church due to the rain on Sunday, October 25.

Dempsey is lodge master

Paul W. Dempsey recently assumed duties as Master of Mount Vernon Masonic Lodge #691 for the 2015-16 lodge year. The lodge meets at 7:30 p.m. on the third Thursday of each month

One Day 4-H

The yard of the restored historic home currently features a variety of fall decorations,  including mums and pumpkins.

Area Veterans salute planned Nov. 7

A salute to area military veterans of all ages and all branches of service has been planned for 4 p.m. Saturday, November 7 at the Rose Mary Jennings Memorial Hall at the First United Methodist Church’s Family Life Center.

Shooting sports to be offered in 4-H

The Franklin County 4-H Club will be offering shooting sports as one of its groups, according to Extension Agent  Brian Ball. The inaugural meeting for the group has been set for 6 p.m. Thursday, November 5
