MOM meeting Thursday, December 19

MOM (Ministering Our Military) support group will have their monthly meeting at 6 p.m., Thursday, December 19. The meeting will be at the Hot Link Palace, 502  North Jefferson in Mount Pleasant.

Trivia contest online

The Mount Vernon Main Street Alliance is sponsoring a Christmas Trivia contest to promote the downtown area. The contest began Monday and will continue through Wednesday, Dec. 25, Christmas Day on the group’s Facebook page. For more information, see the Dec. 19 edition of the Mount Vernon Optic-Herald.

AARP to meet Tuesday, December 17

The Franklin County American Association of Retired Persons Chapter 3703 will meet at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, December 17 at the Senior Citizens Center. An installation of officers will be conducted at the meeting. For more information, see the Dec. 12 edition of the Mount Vernon Optic-Herald.

Our Lady of Guadalupe to be celebrated Sunday

The local celebration of the Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe has been scheduled for Sunday, December 15, with a procession, dancers, religious Mass, food and a program.

Early deadlines apply for Optic-Herald editions

The Mount Vernon Optic-Herald will observe early deadlines for the next two editions of the newspaper for the Christmas and New Year’s holidays. The deadline for news and advertising for the Dec. 26 edition of the newspaper will be noon on Friday, Dec. 20.

Genealogy meetings scheduled

The Franklin County Genealogy Society executive board meeting is set for 2:30 p.m. Friday, December 13, at the Research Library at 110 E. Main St. The meeting was cancelled last Friday, Dec. 6, because of inclement weather.
