Cypress Cemetery Day June 16

“Bubble Day” Friday

The seventh annual “Bubble Day” sponsored by the Franklin County Library and the Friends of the Franklin County Library, is at 10 a.m. Friday, June 7 on the downtown plaza.

Library provides petting zoo Thursday, music Monday

A petting zoo will be offered from 10 a.m. to noon Thursday, June 13 on the square. The library is joining with the Mount Vernon Music organization for a Summer Children’s Concertat 2 p.m. on Monday, June 17

Pine Hill Memorial Day Set Sunday, June 9

Memorial Day at the Pine Hill Cumberland Presbyterian Church is set for Sunday, June 9 beginning at 10:30 a.m.  A pot-luck lunch will be served at noon. The community is welcome to attend. Pine Hill is located off FM 3019 on CR 2381 in Hopkins County.

Library plans technology day

The Franklin County Library will be hosts for a Technology Day on Thursday, June 20 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. The class, which is free to the public, will cover topics including Dropbox, Google drive, and Microsoft Skydrive.

Fort Sherman 175th anniversary celebration Saturday

Lake Bob Sandlin State Park and Titus County Historical Preservation Society will celebrate the 175th anniversary of the founding of Fort Sherman, on Saturday, June 8.  Activities start at 9 a.m. and continue through 4 p.m. For more information, see the June 6 edition of the Mount Vernon Optic-Herald.
