Stew Contest entry deadline approaches

 The deadline to enter the 32nd annual CountryFest Stew Cook-off is Friday, October 7. Thus far, six entries have registered for the contest.

Rural Yard of the Month

Franklin County Chamber as September’s Rural Yard of the Month.The home of the Michael and Melissa Dunavant family, center, on Hwy. 37 just north of CR SW3130, was recognized by the Franklin County Chamber as September’s Rural Yard of the Month.

Local Girl Scout troop forming

A new Girl Scout troop is forming in Mount Vernon. They will have a recruitment and registration night at 6:30 p.m. on September 29 in the Century Room. For more information about the local program, see the September 22 edition of the Mount Vernon Optic-Herald.

Servers needed at Harvest on Main

Volunteers can be a part of one of the most unique experiences that has never been done in Northeast Texas by helping to staff the “Farm to Table” style five course culinary dining event “Harvest on Main.”
