Mayfield inducted into Hall of Honor

Jacky MayfieldJacky Mayfield was inducted into the East Texas Coaches Association Hall of Honor during a banquet February 21 in Texarkana. Mr. Mayfield coached football at Mount Vernon ISD from 2000-2004.

Shakespeare Club to view student film

The Shakespeare Club and the Franklin County Arts Alliance are again joining forces to bring the latest film by Northeast Texas Community College students to Mount Vernon.

Barrel racing awards

Tri-County Barrel Racing AssociationThe annual awards banquet for the Tri-County Barrel Racing Association was February 13 at the Pickton Community Center. Members competed in barrels, poles and a lead line class.

Food drive

Those participating were front row, left to right, Taydin Tosh, Bryce Boren, Cody Clinton, Dylan Clinton, Dakota Vogele, Dylan Bolton, Rylin Tosh, back row, Rebecca Long (teacher), Ayden Crowston, Javion Fountain, Riley Henderson, Connor Richards, Jayden Doss, Whitney Ashley, and Camberlee Johnson. Kids Under Construction held their annual Food Drive to benefit Franklin County Food Bank in January.  Preschool and school age students collected 1,160 items total.
