Jones to be speaker at Black Onyx Scholarship Banquet

Mack Jones will be the featured speaker at the eighth annual Black Onyx Club Scholarship Banquet. The banquet is set for 6:30 p.m. Friday, June 5, at NETO’s Senior Meal Center.

Sanders completes Masters degree

Scholarships totaling $387,000 awarded

Senior students at Mount Vernon High School received $387,000 in scholarship money at various banquets and special events earlier this month at school. For an alphabetical listing of those students and the scholarships they received, see the May 28 edition of the Mount Vernon Optic-Herald.

Golden graduates from Baylor University

Hannah Renee Golden was one of 2,300 Baylor University graduates to receive a degree during spring commencement exercises in the Ferrell Center on the Baylor campus in May.
