Greenberg to attend leadership conference

Garrett GreenbergGarrett Greenberg will be attending the National Young Leaders State Conference in Houston from June 12 to 15. She was nominated for this honor by Mount Vernon Intermediate School Counselor Jenene Dale based on her academic performance and the leadership qualities she has exhibited the past two years.

Gilbert DaleGilbert Dale has been selected to at the Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership Seminar at the University of Texas at Arlington campus June 12 to 15.

Siddens is winner of essay contest

Marcus Siddens, center, was named winner of the March With Me Reflections essay contest. Marcus Siddens was announced as the winner of the  essay contest on the meaning March With Me, a book by Rosalie Turner on the “Children’s March” and other protests on segregation.

Golden inducted into Sigma Alpha Pi honor society

Haley GoldenHaley Golden, a junior at Texas A&M - Commerce, was inducted into Sigma Alpha Pi recently. The organization is a national leadership honor society. Miss Golden, a 2012 graduate of Mount Vernon High School, is majoring in music.

Sixth time on Dean’s list for Price

Landon PriceLandon Price, a senior at East Texas Baptist University was named to the Dean’s List both the Fall 2013 and Spring 2014 semesters with a 4.0 grade point average.

NTCC cherry tree wins Best of Show

Emmanuel Rutledge and Crystal St. Clair of the  NTCC welding class proudly display their cherry tree.Approximately 60 people packed the Cultural Arts Center on Thursday, April 17 for an evening of poetry and visual art. The welding class at Northeast Texas Community College won Best of Show and a $250 check for their cherry tree constructed of metal including cherry blossoms.
