Music scholarship awards announced to area students

The Mount Vernon Music Betty Whitlock Scholarship fund provided $3,000 in scholarships in 2016, ranging from $500 to $50, to 17 students to help further their study and training in their respective fields of music.

Heritage Scholarship banquet Saturday night

The ninth annual Heritage Scholarship Banquet, honoring the black heritage graduates of the 2016 Mount Vernon High School graduating class and those currently in college, will begin at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, June 18.
