Local teens leading regional division

Members of the Franklin County High School fishing team accept a check from one of their donors.Kaden Profitt and Will Gamblin sit atop the leader board for Anglers of the Year in the East Division of the Texas High School Bass Association. The pair has garnered a total of 1,183 points from four fishing tournaments.

Horticulture class plant sale Saturday

Students display a few of the plants that will be available.The horticulture class at Mount Vernon High School will have their annual plant sale on Saturday, April 9. The sale will be from 8 a.m. to noon in the green house on the east side of the school’s campus next to the softball field.

Certified food handler course set

The “Texas Food Establishment Rules (TFER)” revision now requires all food employees to complete an accredited food handlers training program within 60 days of employment.

Retired teachers

Members of the Franklin County Retired Teachers AssociationMembers of the Franklin County Retired Teachers Association attended a tour and luncheon at the Franklin County Family Health Center on Tuesday, March 15. The group learned about the variety of health care services provided at the facility.
