Pat Fekete, foreground, and Gaylord O’con work diligently on one of their watercolor paintings during the Southwestern Watercolor Society’s Spring Paint Out in Mount Vernon last weekend. Fifteen artist took short jaunts to sketch or photograph their subjects then returned to the warmth of the CAC to work.
Parents should be getting prepared for the annual Easter in the Park event to begin at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, April 11 at Tiger Stadium in Mount Vernon. The annual event will kick-off with the Easter Parade. Parents and their children are encouraged to prepare miniature floats to enter in the event.
Members of the Beautification Coalition, a part of the Mount Vernon Main Street Program, invites civic minded people to join them in a Spring clean-up effort Thursday, April 9. Volunteers are asked to meet at Mount Vernon’s City Hall at 9 a.m. The group will focus its efforts in the downtown public areas and along highway entrances. Aaron Walker of Mount Vernon was the first place winner in the adult division of the J. C. Outdoors Bass Fishing Tournament on Lake Bob Sandlin Sunday, March 22.
Bassist Paul Unger will be featured as a member of the Paul Unger Trio in concert Sunday, April 5. The trio will perform a program of jazz and tango music at 3 p.m. at the Mount Vernon Music Hall.
