The North Franklin Volunteer Fire Department will have a fish fry fund-raising event on Saturday, April 4 at tje Hagansport Community Center. Fried fish with all the trimmings will be served for a donation starting at 5 p.m. All proceeds from the event will go to the North Franklin Volunteer Fire Department and the Hagansport Community Center.

Opening ceremonies for the 2009 Summer youth baseball and softball programs is set for 5:30 p.m. Friday, April 3 at Lindley Field. All players and coaches need to meet at Lindley Field at 5:20 p.m. in full uniform. For more information, see the April 2 edition of the Optic-Herald.

The Mount Vernon Key Club will be sponsoring its sixth annual Bake-off on Saturday, April 18. Money raised from the event will be donated to Community Food Bank of Franklin County located at Hilltop Baptist Church. The event is in conjunction with the Cypress SpringFest activities.
