Burton designs play set

Brooks Burton, formerly of Mount Vernon, designed the set for Ordinary People, the latest production of Austin College’s Communication Studies Department.  The dramatic production  of  Ordinary People  is set for 7:30 p.m. Thursday through Saturday, March 5-6, and at 2 p.m.  Friday, March 6.

A concert featuring the American Horn Quartet is scheduled for 3 p.m. Sunday, March 8 at the Mount Vernon Music Association’s Music Hall. It is open to the public.

Mardi Gras event successful

Mardi Gras event successful

Nora Holder and Sam Vella participate in the opening
parade for the Mardi Gras celebration. Approximately 75 guests attended the fifth annual Mardi Gras in Mount Vernon sponsored by the Ladies Guild of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. More than $1,100 was earned for the various projects supported by the guild.See the Feb. 26 edition of the Optic-Herald for more information.
