Velvin “Tooster” and Mary Bolin will celebrate their 70th wedding anniversary on March 6. A reception in their honor will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, March 7 at the First Baptist Church.
Brooks Burton, formerly of Mount Vernon, designed the set for Ordinary People, the latest production of Austin College’s Communication Studies Department. The dramatic production of Ordinary People is set for 7:30 p.m. Thursday through Saturday, March 5-6, and at 2 p.m. Friday, March 6.
A concert featuring the American Horn Quartet is scheduled for 3 p.m. Sunday, March 8 at the Mount Vernon Music Association’s Music Hall. It is open to the public.

parade for the Mardi Gras celebration. Approximately 75 guests attended the fifth annual Mardi Gras in Mount Vernon sponsored by the Ladies Guild of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
