Two exciting events are planned next week by the Franklin County Arts Alliance featuring the talents of Walt and Isabel Davis.
A reception and book signing will open a new exhibit at the Old Jail Art Museum Friday, May 21, and a workshop will be on May 22 at the Cultural Arts Center.
Together the Davises have written Exploring the Edges of Texas, an informative book based on their duplication of Frank X. Tolbert’s explorations of Texas borders in 1955. Each of the book’s 16 chapters opens with original art by Mr. Davis. The watercolor depicts one of the areas they visited.
This art, which was on display during March at the Museum of Nature and Science at Fair Park, will be on display at the Old Jail Art Museum from May 21 through most of June. The public is invited to the opening reception from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, May 21 at the OJAM. See the May 13 edition of the Mount Vernon Optic-Herald for more information.
