“Once an Eagle, always an Eagle” is the motto of those who attain the highest rank in the Boy Scouting program.
That phrase remains true for Jim Mitchell. At the age of 94, he is not the oldest Eagle Scout in Northeast Texas, but he is close. Tom Wilmeth of Daingerfield, who is three years older, edged him out. Mr. Mitchell recently began helping the local cub scouts from troop 271. He came to a meeting in January wearing a new uniform shirt and his sash containing the badges he earned on his way to attaining his Eagle Scout rank.
