The North Franklin Volunteer Fire Department has set a fish fry for Saturday, Feb. 6 starting at 5 p.m. at the Hagansport Community Center. Fried fish with all the trimmings will be offered for a donation. All proceeds from the event will benefit the North Franklin Volunteer Fire Department and the Hagansport Community Center.

Donation made to Haiti
Local rotary clubs have linked arms around the globe to assist in the Haiti disaster. Randi Duckworth, District Governor for District 5830, presented Mercy Ships a $10,000 donation to assist the organization in their Haiti relief efforts. Orders extended for Angel Food Ministries
Beginning in February time and days allowed for orders for food through the Angel Food Ministries program will be extended at the First United Methodist Church. Orders for reduced price food can be made from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Friday Feb. 2-5, Feb. 9-12 and on Feb. 16-17. See the Jan. 28 edition of the Optic-Herald for more details.
Rosales ratified as Chamber of Commerce president
Robert Rosales was radified as the 2010 president for the Franklin County Chamber of Commerce during the group’s annual membership meeting at the Century Room on Tuesday, Jan. 19.
Black History Month program announced
