The Cypress Springs Lions Club will have the second weekend of their  27th Annual Turkey Shoot on Saturday, Nov. 21 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the intersection of FM 1448 and FM 115.See the Nov. 19 edition of the Optic-Herald for more details.

Boys with Mount Vernon Cub Scout Pack 271 and Boy Scout Troop 271 will conduct  the “Scouting for Food” drive from 9 a.m. until around 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 21 in Mount Vernon. Angel Trees are going up early this year due to early deadlines for families needing help with toy and/or clothing for their children. See the Nov. 19 edition of the Optic-Herald for more information on how you can help with the program or how to apply for assistance.

Donattions are still being accepted to add to the wreath being given away as a fund-raising project by the Franklin County Library. Funds raised with the wreath give-away will help fund “The Vault” project at the Franklin County Library.
