Punkin’ Chunkin’ fun Saturday, Nov. 7

The growing fun fad of “Punkin’ Chunkin’” will get its start in Franklin County this weekend. The event will top the list of activities for Saturday afternoon at the Alamo Mission Trade Day events, Nov. 7. See the Nov. 5 edition of the Optic-Herald for more details on the event.

 

Methodist Church Bazaar Saturday

The 37th  Annual Church Bazaar at the First United Methodist Church will open at 9 a,m. Saturday, Nov. 7.  There will be  a decorators’ showcase of accessories for the home  as well as foods.  The chili lunch begins at 11 a.m. For mofe information, see the Nov. 5 edition of the Optic-Herald.

Sheers receives Best Overall 2009 Holloween  Theme

The ladies at Sheers dressed as witches complete with brooms and bubbling cauldrons and took top honors as the business with the “Best Overall Theme”

Fallen Veterans honored

Fallen Veterans honored

The Old Saltillo Cemetery Association honored fallen veterans and those with unmarked graves at the annual dedication day.   The Hopkins County Military Coalition assisted with the dedication of a veterans marker.

Costume contest

The Alamo Mission’s Halloween party was conducted on Saturday, Oct 24. Finalists in the seven and over costume contest were first place Dejah Arnold, second place Mack Pryor, and third place Halie Daniels.
