The First Baptist Church of Mount Vernon’s “A” team softball group won first place for the summer church/community league. The final game of the season was on Wednesday, Aug. 19. Eight teams competed in the league during the summer. Members of the winning team were as follows: front row, left to right, Amy Ford, Ashley Rainwater, Lisa McDaniel, Jennifer Sumrow, Denise Case; back row, Matt Ford, Michael Long, Greg Reed, Shane Sumrow, and John Case. Members not shown were Steve Asay, Cindy Reed, and Savannah Keys.
