Lanny Joe and Cindy Burnett with side kick guitarist Royce Wayne Smithey entertained more than 50 Franklin County Historical Association volunteers at the organization’s annual Volunteer Appreciation Dinner at the Trey Deuce. The trio sang, recited poetry and performed historical skits. The Burnetts dressed here as C.F. “Charles” and Lide Doan. The couple established the first trading post along the Red River that later became a major crossing for cattle drives on the “Great Western Trail” on their way to Kansas.
