Mix bikes, art, history and good food and you have Cypress SpringFest, a spring weekend in Franklin County unlike anything in Texas.
The event-packed weekend of April 16-17 has something for almost every taste.
The Sixth Annual Tour de Cypress Bike Race and Tour of Mount Vernon is being sponsored by the Mount Vernon Rotary Club to benefit international and club charities.
The date coordinates with “April Arts,” sponsored by the Franklin County Arts Alliance, and the annual Key Club Bake-Off.
The weekend will begin Friday, April 16, with exhibits and a reception at the Cultural Arts Center, a reception at the Old Fire Station Museum, and the Heroes Barbecue at the Franklin County Airport Community Hall on CR NE1030.
The Rotary Club’s bike rides will begin at the square at 9 a.m. Saturday. For more details, see the March 25 edition of the Optic-Herald.
