There is more to do than just race a turtle at the fourth annual Mid-Summer Bash and Turtle Derby set for 7-9 p.m. Saturday, July 10 at the Alamo Mission Museum. Activities for all ages are planned for the event. The event will kick off with a free hot dog dinner and watermelon slices for the first 200 participants. After the meal, the annual turtle races will be conducted. Everyone is encouraged to decorate and bring a turtle for the competition. A limited number of racing turtles will be available at the museum for those who could not collect a turtle this year. Those available will be presented for adoption on a first come first served basis the night of the event. For more details, see the July 8 edition of the Mount Vernon Optic-Herald.
