Members of the Mount Vernon Volunteer Fire Department will be hosts for an Open House / Kid’s Safety Day Saturday, Aug. 7 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the station located at the corner of Hwy. 37 and Rutherford St. Games and activities will be provided for kids and free hot dogs and drinks will be served. Tours of the fire station, the fire trucks, and the equipment will be given throughout the day and fire safety will be discussed.
