Miss Mount Vernon 2010 Malori Carr glows with joy upon receiving her title as her predecessor, Stephanie Thompson, places her crown.
The 42nd annual Miss Mount Vernon Pageant grossed approximately $13,000 and anticipates netting around $5,000 for the sponsoring Franklin County Chamber of Commerce on Saturday, Aug. 21 in the high school auditorium. Malori Carr was crowned Miss Mount Vernon for 2010-11 before a crowd of about 600. In addition to the crown, flowers and trophy received by each of the winners, Miss Carr will receive a $1,000 college scholarship from the Chamber.
The first runner-up to Miss Mount Vernon, Karrie Hargrave, will receive a $500 scholarship. This is the first year for the runner-up scholarship to be awarded.
