The Franklin County Historical Association will serve beans and cornbread during the Rodeo Festival on Saturday, Sept. 4. Beans, cornbread, and all the fixings will be available on a donation basis on the downtown plaza beginning at 11 a.m. The FCHA will also provide a kid’s game area. Activities planned are a hay scramble, stick horse barrel races, and pin the badge on the sheriff. Prizes will be provided, including kid tickets to the rodeo and a token for Our Place and Dairy Queen. “We wanted to plan a fun time for the whole family, and all donations will be used to maintain our historical properties,” FCHA event planner Donna McFarland said. The MVISD marching band will be selling soft drinks on the plaza. The Sulphur River Cowboy Church and the Circle C Cowboy Church will be provide fresh baked fruit cobbler for purchase.
