Dale and Barbara Crowston threw a 98th birthday celebration for Dessie Josiephene Evans Crowston at Mission Manor Nursing Home on Saturday, Sept. 18.
She was born Sept. 18, 1912 in Hagansport to John Calvin Evans and Lela Isabell Ottinger Evans. She had a foster brother and, William Thomas Pike and David Anna “Daisy” Pike, who were her dad’s step children of his first marriage, a half brother, Jesse Lewis Evans, and a brother, John Miller Evans aka John Calvin Evans Jr. born 1917.
Her mother’s parents, Adam Miller Ottinger and Mary Isabell Ray Ottinger, arrived about 1890. Her dad arrived in Franklin County in the mid 1870s. Her dad owned and operated a general store next to their home in Old Hagansport. At the age of eight Dessie started to school in Old Hagansport which was just a short walk from her home.
