A message of hope, love and caring is shared by the Hispanic cultural celebration of the Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe, the patroness of the Americas and protector of the unborn. The  local celebration is scheduled Sunday, Dec. 12. A procession with a trailer bearing an image of Our Lady of Guadalupe, said to be the mother of Jesus Christ, will begin in downtown. Participants will gather at the downtown plaza starting at 9 a.m. and begin the procession at 9:30 a.m. For more details, see the Dec. 9 edition of the Mount Vernon Optic-Herald.
