Almost a lost art, blacksmith work proved a fascinating program for members and guests at the May meeting of the Franklin County Historical Association.
Ron Sciebler, who trained as a blacksmith with his grand father and others, presented the program. His work on an operational blacksmith forge was documented by videographer and producer Richard Schroeder. Their short film on blacksmith work, which includes a bit of history, folklore and superstition, was played for the group. The film is one of a dozen such videos on various historic crafts produced by Mr. Schroeder.
