Members of the American Legion Post 243 in Mount Vernon delivered 12,000 pounds of supplies to flood victims in Vicksburg, Mississippi
on Friday, June 10.
Items donated to the flood victims included bottled water, canned goods, shovels, fans, hammers, grills, and bug spray. More than $3,500 in cash was received during the drive to collect items for the donation. The money was used to purchase more of the most needed items for people in the flooded area. See the June 23 edition of the Mount Vernon Optic-Herald for more details.
