Charles Rutherford was first place winner in the 2011 Mount Vernon Optic-Herald Summer Fun Photo Contest.
The winning photo depicts a young lady water skiing on Lake Cypress Springs with the spray of the water fanning out behind her.
The second place photo was submitted by Patti Wafford. The picture is of her granddaughter, Avery Kate Suttles, enjoying a juicy slice of watermelon.
A photo of Joshua and Dylan Anderson and their dog, Pal, covered from head to toe in mud, garnered third place in the contest. The picture was submitted by Cora Lee Anderson.
