
Many children took advantage of the flower pot painting activity at the Tom Scott Lumber Yard Customer Appreciation Day on Saturday, May 16. Staff from the store served approximately 300 hot dogs, helped to paint 75 flower pots, and assisted in building 100 tool boxes. The event is conducted each year in May.



Brad Rose recently joined with other ultralight plane pilots for a trip to Florida. Mr. Rose and his friends blogged the trip on the Internet and were followed by many interested individuals. Most of his other flying enthusiasts were from Washington state and he met them in the metroplex to join in the journey. (Optic Photo ‘09)
Kathy A. Marrs of Mount Vernon was recently honored as a member of the Presidential Who’s Who Among Business and Professional Achievers. Her named will be listed in the 2010 edition of the publication which is registered in the Library of Congress in Washington, D.C. The publication is printed once a year to honor people who have reached a level of recognizable success in their respective fields. Mrs. Marrs is an executive unit leader for Avon, Inc. She has sold Avon for the past 27 years. She and her husband, Gary, have three children and four grandchildren.
Members of the third grade lunch pal program were honored by their lunch pals with an end of the year luncheon last week at the First National Bank Century Room. Each lunch pal was presented with a certificate and a small gift. (Optic Photo by Susan Reeves ‘09)
The 31st POW/MIA and Purple Heart Luncheon was recently conducted in Hoban Hall at Barksdale Air Force Base in Louisiana. Col. Steve DePyssler, USAF, Retired, was host for the luncheon. The luncheon is one of the largest in the nation.
