USDA offers grants

The U. S. Department of Agriculture is accepting funding applications from eligible entities for grants to conduct energy audits under the Rural Energy for America Program (REAP), Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack announced late last week.  
The audits are intended to help determine where to make changes in their operations to enable them to reduce energy consumption.  Audits are required for energy efficiency projects funded through REAP that exceed $50,000.

Bigfoot is coming to Mount Pleasant

The Mount Pleasant 4-H Show Club will be hosts for the Bigfoot Monster Truck on Monday and Tuesday, March 23-24 at Little Giant Discount Tire in Mount Pleasant.All proceeds from the event will benefit the Mount Pleasant 4-H Show Club. For more information, call 903-572-8859.

Magician Miller performs at Chamber banquet

Darryl Miller with PMI Entertainment will provide magical entertainment for this years Franklin County Chamber of Commerce Membership Banquet. The banquet will be Saturday, March 21 and a crowd of more than 200 is expected.

Public hearing set for city’s master development plan

The City of Mount Vernon’s Comprehensive Development Plan is nearing completion. Citizens will have one of two final opportunities to make their wishes known in a public hearing at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 31 at City Hall.
