The Mount Vernon Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) Maintenance office will begin an alternative work schedule of four 10-hour days. The new work schedule will begin Monday, March 9.
Law enforcement officers and good neighbors need help in returning straying livestock to their owners. Franklin County Sheriff Paul Fletcher is asking citizens who own livestock to register with the sheriff’s office.
Work on the east side of the Franklin Dam is progressing. Earth Builders is creating coffer dams and will pump water away from the dam area. The construction will modify the slope of the dam to prevent sluffing of topsoil and will make the dam more stable.

With the deadline fast approaching, only three completed applications have been received for Franklin County’s HOME program. The county has been awarded up to $375,000 to use for the replacement of substandard housing.
