Mixed results from local code enforcement efforts were reported by residents to council members at their February meeting. Members are hoping for improved results by offering local citizens a way to report code violations through the city’s website.
A fire was reported in the laundry room at the Terry Haven Nursing Home around 1 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 28. The laundry is in a detached building on the west end of the property.

Daylight Saving Time is set to begin at 2 a.m. Sunday, March 8. People should set their clocks forward one hour before going to bed Saturday night to avoid being late for church or other events.
The Monday deadline to file for city council, school trustee, or water district board positions is fast approaching. Interest in the positions has been limited. The Franklin County Library kicks off two programs to benefit patrons today, Thursday, March 5. The first is a water safety program at 6:30 p.m. in the board room of the library. The second program is the first of a weekly series of self help workshops for patrons who may have been affected by the recent downturn in the economy.
