Holiday mail

Holiday mailIt is beginning to look a lot like the Christmas Holiday is approaching at the post office. Lines at the Mount Vernon Post Office are starting to be longer and the packages are coming in an abundance. The deadlines to mail packages to military personnel are approaching Guidelines and dates for mailing holiday packages are available on the United States Postal Service website
 

Angel Tree

Angel TreeAngel Trees with Christmas wishes have sprouted at various locations around town. Postmaster Monty White, and volunteer coordinators Randy Green and Kelly Alphin display angels on the tree located at the post office. More than 120 families have requested assistance for the holiday season. The deadline to return items is Dec. 12. See the full story in the Dec. 4 edition of the Optic-Herald.

Farmer’s Market Saturday, Nov. 22

Vendors Susan Bass, Jean Pamplin, Jeanne Lawrence, Lisa Davis, Paula Stretcher, and Lou Ann Rollins braved the cold weather to sell their wares on Saturday, Nov. 22. Next Saturday, Nov. 29 will be the last farmer’s market until it reopens again in March or April of 2009.
