Early detection of a fire at the Tom Scott Lumber Yard  building averted the loss of the building Friday, May 15. Co-owner Larry Scott arrived early to assist a customer to find the retail area of the store filling with smoke. He found the source of the smoke in the custom paint mixing area. Two dry fire extinguishers were used to extinguish the fire. Fire Marshal Gerry Allen stated that he could not rule out an electrical / mechanical failure as the cause of the fire.
