Increases in city’s utility rates, property taxes, to secure future

A budget projection study for the City of Mount Vernon  predicts slow growth, and a need for increases in both water and sewer utilities if the city is to continue operating. The study authors advised the city to seek out alternative revenue sources through economic development and a possible increase in property taxes.
