Danny Nguyen was awarded the rank of Eagle Scout in ceremonies at the Depot Community Room in Winnsboro Saturday, Nov. 28. He is seen here with his sister Heidi, left, and his parents Mr. and Mrs Hieu Nguyen, all of Franklin County. Less than two percent of those in Scouting ever achieve the rank of Eagle Scout, the highest rank earned by a boy. Approximately 80 attended the ceremony and dinner. Members and leaders of Mount Vernon Boy Scout Troop 271 conducted the ceremony.  The young Eagle Scout’s service project was to do demolition on the old playground equipment area at the First United Methodist Church and install expanded curbing and base materials for installation of new equipment at the site. He is a 2008 graduate of MVHS and is attending college.
