The City of Mount Vernon resurrected its application to seek a $800,000 grant from the Texas Department of Transportation. New information may now kill that plan. Last week’s approval was for an 80/20 grant match. “They now tell us it will require a 50/50 match for the project,” Tina Rose, city secretary, said Tuesday. The issue will be discussed during the city council workshop on Tuesday, Nov. 24.
