The free dumping for residents of the City of Mount Vernon and three of Franklin County’s Commissioners Precincts will conclude Saturday, April 10. The county’s Commissioner of Pct. 4 will continue to offer the free disposal through Friday, April 30.
Citizens are urged to take advantage of free disposal of extra refuse and large items. Those taking items to the various dumpster sites are asked to separate metal, wood and other specified items into the appropriate marked collection areas outside the dumpsters.
All sites require items such as refrigerators and air-conditioning units to have their cooling unit removed. Tires and roofing materials, or commercial refuse will not be accepted. Batteries are accepted only at specified locations. For more details, see the April 8 edition of the Optic-Herald.
