Water treatment costs, options to be studied

Print

What are the costs and options available to the City of Mount Vernon to meet the future needs of its citizens and businesses? This is the question members of the Mount Vernon City Council hope to have answered by a study ordered at its April meeting.

KSA Engineers will conduct an evaluation study for the city on the costs of treating its own water versus purchasing water already treated. A debate has arisen in past meetings of the council among its members over water service areas and expansion of the city’s limits. The inability to expand easily to serve areas adjacent to the city and which some day may be included in the city limits is a point of concern for city leaders. See the April 22 edition of the Optic-Herald for more information.
