Volunteer firemen battled a shop fire behind the 709 Kaufman St. residence of Mr. and Mrs. James Jordan.  According to Fire Marshal Gerry Allen the 40x50 foot metal shop was a total loss. The blaze was called in about 10:50 a.m.  Saturday, April 24. Mr. Jordan stated he had left a motorcycle running in the shop while he was doing some yard work, and did not see the fire start. Both local and state Fire Marshals concluded the motorcycle was the starting point of the blaze.
