The City of Mount Vernon will celebrate the 100th year of its charter as a city this weekend. A wide variety of entertainment is planned including a carnival, dog dress and races, a street dance, and a historical slide show. Parking Suggestions: Patrons of businesses / offices on the north and east side of the square should park behind the courthouse, in the Heritage Fountain parking lot, and opposite sides of the square for access within reasonable walking distance.
