United Way sets $80,000 goal for 2011

The United Way of Franklin County set a new goal of $80,000 for its 2011 campaign that will be raised in 2010. The goal was set in conjunction with the approval of 17 agencies to receive funding at the meeting of the board on Thursday, June 24.
One new agency, Lunches of Love, was added to the list of those to receive funding.  They were allocated $1,500. Other agencies to be funded, their 2010 funding amount and their 2011 allocations are as follows:
Titus County Cares, $4,000, $6,000; Northeast Texas Opportunities, Inc., $4,000, $6,000; Community Food Bank of Franklin County, $4,000, $5,000; Franklin County Ministerial Alliance,$6,500, $5,000; Franklin County Youth Baseball/Softball Association, $2,000, $1,000; Holy Highway Girls Home, $3,000, $3,000; CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates), $10,000, $7,500; Cypress Basin Hospice, $7,500, $5,000; SAFE-T (Shelter Agency for Families in East Texas), $6,000, $6,000; Texarkana Chapter of the American Red Cross, $2,000, $2,000; Salvation Army, $5,000, $5,000; Rotary Scholarship Trust, $12,000, $12,000; Northeast Texas Child Advocacy Center / Caring for Kids, $7,000, $7,000; Friends of the Franklin County Library, $3,000, $4,000; Girl Scouts of America, $2,000, $2,000; and NeTseO (Northeast Texas Southeastern Oklahoma) Trails Council of Boy Scouts of America, $2,000, $2,000. The 2011 campaign kick off event will be in August.
